The Historic Hair Family Farm

Rasa Organics is proud to farm our fresh vegetables and herbs on the historic Hair Farm property located in the low and lovely foothills of Dawnville, North Georgia.

Some Fabulous Farmy History
:

The Hair property was originally purchased in 1890 by George Washington Hair, a confederate of the Civil War, 2 time POW, and recipient of the Southern Cross of Honor. It is believed that G.W. Hair farmed the land until in 1908 when he transferred it to his son, Clarence Bivings Hair. Clarence was not only a farmer, but also the Director of the Whitfield County Soil Conservation Association. His son, George Moses Hair, a lifelong farmer and current resident of Dawnville, cultivated corn on the land and subsequently was awarded the title: Top Corn Producer in Georgia of 1969.

Today, Wanda Hair Taylor and her sister Brenda Hair, both grandaughters of Clarence Bivings Hair, and Wanda's husband Captain Gary G. Taylor, live on, love and manage the land. Wanda has written a book on the history of her family farm entitled, The Hairs of Our Head are all Numbered; "And Now So Are We" Matt: 10:30. Wanda and Gary are both entrepreneurs, competitive fly fishers, world travelers, and have a soft spot for young farming couples. We are so blessed to have a relationship with these dynamic wild hairs!
